A studio made for adventure

OUR
ORIGINS

Two people, fifteen years of creative graft, and a life spent exploring the great outdoors.

Out Here is run by Matt and Frances Brooks, an illustrator and art director, launching an indie studio making artwork for the brands shaping outdoor, adventure and alt-living culture.

We're not observers of this world. We love to be in it. Matt grew up a skater grom glued to 411VM, skating car parks like they were skateparks. Backyard ramps, Grandads handicam, and a steady stream of DIY skate vids way before being a content creator was a thing.

Frances on the other hand is a globe trotter, she’s travelled the world, map in hand, soaking up the culture from every corner. Whether its at the X-games in Tignes, or walking the Atlas mountains of Morocco, it’s the spirit of adventure that fires her up and pours into the work.

Now our work is deeply rooted in a passion for the outdoors. Bringing that authentic knowledge from a life of surf, skate, snow, and hike to brands around the globe wanting to get out there.

The Team

Matt Brooks

Founder - Illustrator

After 15+ years in the creative industry working with some of the world’s most loved brands and agencies, Matt started Out Here to focus on the good stuff. Now the skateboard is hung up on the wall, if he’s not illustrating, you’ll find him deeply obsessed with Twin Peaks, plaid shirts, and dreaming up cabins he can’t afford.

Frances Brooks

Art Director

Continuing to lead brand and campaign work with a marketing agency on projects for Nike, Samsung, Apple and more, Frances lends a hand to the studio bringing world-class art direction to every brief. When she’s not styling campaigns you’ll find her listening to 90’s grunge with the volume turned up to 11, always rocking out.

Epic work Expertly crafted

Our tiny studio is focused on keeping it real and down to earth. You won’t find any agency ego’s, or corporate jargon, just two people mastering their craft rather than chasing trends.

The boards are still waxed, the trails are still walked, the outdoor life is still lived with a fierce respect for the natural world. That connection to the outdoors isn't a brand position. It's just who we are.

When you work with Out Here, you're working with a studio that visually gets your world, because we do our best to really live in it. The illustration comes from the inside. The art direction comes from the top of the industry. And the work shows both.
